Chicks Dig Deals

I don’t often come up with a great idea without at least a little inspiration from somewhere but this time I did!  My hubby loves sun tea and I buy a sun tea jar every year only to be annoyed by it within a few weeks of use.  

The spout never seems to come clean from tea stains which makes it look so gross.  It always inevitably drips in my refrigerator after a while making a mess which makes me crazy.  It is not really very handy to fill your cup while it sits in your frig anyway.

That’s when my favorite upcycle idea came to me.  I have started using the Tropicana Orange Juice “pitcher” to make my sun tea.  It is awesome!!  

It is perfect for so many reasons.

1. I get orange juice FREE with purchase of my tea pitcher!  Tropicana is $4.88 at Walmart so the same as the cost of a tea jar on sale.
2. I can set it outside and since it is plastic I don’t worry about it breaking.
3. Two family size Luzianne tea bags fit in the hole in the top with just a little “squishing”.  When you take them out you just have to be careful that you don’t tear the bags.  I leave them in until I make the next batch.
4. I wrap the tea bags around the opening “flap” and they stay in place and don’t fall in the jar.
5. It doesn’t stain.
6. It is fits nicely in the frig and doesn’t take up lots of room or drip (Yeah!)
7. It is nice and easy to pour a glass and looks fine on the table even when company comes over.  (We are not fancy people!)
8. If it breaks, no biggie because I buy a new one for the same price as a tea jar would cost plus I get yummy orange juice!
9. It is upcycling so save me money!
